That is what I was doing last night. The program does not have all the parts available IRL but I'm not totally disappointed.

^ One of the first things I built with Lego's digital program.
It's an awesome app. A clean, intuitive interface, (relatively) reliastic interaction between pieces, and I've only seen it crash once or twice under very obscure circumstances.
I also fired off an email to LEGO about it offering some suggestions for improvement, "more bricks" is an obvious one but I think the best improvement would be a "glue" tool so you can group multiple pieces together into a single unit, because when you're working on a very large model it is difficult to select only a portion of it for editing. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Build these sectional chunks off to the side, rotate the platform so other build objects are not behind the seperate section, thenm you can highlight larg groups of peices and move them all at once. That is how I built the dump box, I originally assembled it infront of the cab because it was easier for me to do it there.
Gimme a little wile I'll show you what I mean.
One thing I would like to see is fewer single color bricks... some of them are rediculous, no reson for them to be only one available color, especially when I have had several of them in other colors . _________________ RPG-n. Yeah, I know about assembling them piece-by-piece and then moving selections together. It just . . . gets tedious after awhile, y'know?
And yes, "more colors" qualifies as part of the "more bricks" suggestion. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

I'd prefer real legos, except they are expensive.
I really want to recreate this one piece I made when I was 12, it was amazing. It was a large-scale western bar with all the bells and whistles. It also had a system of pulleys and hinges that that could shanghai drunk people. (make them fall down to dungeons below, starve them, and sell them as slaves in far-away places)
I donated all the blocks to a charity few years back. It filled three large pillow cases. _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

I still have all my legos from ages ago.
My favorite part had to be taking random other objects/toys and building onto or around them.
After the "Bionical" lego pieces started to come out I made a huge robot with mix-and-matched legos. I haven't played with them since. |

I had to make a tiny tray out of wood to hold all my watercolor paints few months ago. About the time I finished, I got to think "Hey, this shit would be easier if I just built it with legos". _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

I don't have any of mine....they are all gone. I'm constantly getting in trouble for playing with the kids legos. One of these days he is going to punch me lol. _________________ RPG-n. Just tell him that he's going to be a man one day and no longer be interested in Legos, then smile and ask him if you can play with them. _________________ "edit : i luv james" - Layzcarter |

I think I'm going to start ripping that down and rebuilding it. When I started I was just goofin around, But I really liked how that dump box came out. So I'm going to tear it down and rebuild the cab and maybe the chassis.

I decided to go all out on the rebuild.....I'm actually having fun, but now I'm running into problems with "If you use this part you won't be able to price your model" Damnit and I need a bigger windshield I'll have to improvise.

You can disable that message in LDD's Preferences. Otherwise, note which pieces do and do not have colored backgrounds in the toolbox, this tells you whether or not it's a piece you can order online.
Me, I also wish LDD had a button to show you a complete brick count of your model. Before I built my LEGO Amaterasu (the big one) it took me several hours to fill out an order sheet for everything. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Oh yeah that would be nice. At this rate I'm going to be pushing 2000 pieces, I think I would like to know how many I do end up with in the end.
...BTW this will not be cheap when I get it done, A quick price check as it stands now is $141.03 USD. _________________ RPG-n. I've noticed that LEGO box sets, on average, cost about 10c per brick. Which isn't that bad until you realize that average LEGO sets also contain hundreds of bricks at a time. That 5,000pc Ultimate Millenium Falcon? $500.
My Lego Amaterasu was about 800 pieces (including the weapon, which was about 130pc), also note that when you hit the "Order" button from LDD you're actually placing an order for the model (parts and instructions), so the model has to be among other things "copyright friendly". Otherwise, as was the case with my Lego Ammy, you have to order the individual bricks which costs about the same, but can take much, MUCH longer to fill out the form when your model contains over 100 different brick colors/types. So it's a good thing to minimize the # of brick types you're using when you can. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

I'm considering putting a plow and road salter on to this thing. I was originally going to but now given the number of peices I've already used....I have to rethink my build lol.
With as expencive as this thing is looking like it's going to be, I may not go through and get it considerining that the whole inspiration for this was that little one I made just goofin around trying to inspire my nephiew.
But I am really beginning to want it at the same time...I think I'm going to cry. _________________ RPG-n. BTW in case you haven't heard yet there is an official Lego MMORPG currently in development.
And that's not counting the other new Lego ventures this year which include Lego Harry Potter (the video game), as well as their Ben 10 and Toy Story licenses. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Well, I ran into a couple major problems that took a few days to over come.....
I had to change the color of the entire build. They don't have the parts I needed to make the wheel wells the way I wanted to and was forced to improvise.

The part I neded up using comes in two colors, White and gray.

So the truck is now white, Which brings me to a point....I wish the paint tool could be used on multiple parts, I had to change colors one brick at a time.

The other peoblem was I had planned on hinging the nose so it would open, but they do not have the necessary parts and I spent a week trying to cobble something together only to fail.....Owell.
Current progress
