Currently, I own Teen Witch, and the Ultimate Book of Shadows, Solitary Witch. I haven't even put a dent in the Ult. BOS, because it is like 560pgs long. Teen witch wasn't my favorite though, in fact, I don't recommend it for new readers.

It's Ravenwolf.

Eh.. I don't know. Wicca books can be misleading. But she's a very prominent author if you delve into her works deeper.

I have the book Teen Witch, but I also have the series she made about the people on the cover of that book, also named Teen Witch. I also have her entire collection of books. I think she's okay, but, she seems a bit to 'It's magic! You have to believe!' for me. I prefer a more solid and understanding magic guide. Y'know, one that explains how this is going to work.

Silver Ravenwolf is ... unethical and misleading.

Check this out first: http://wicca.timerift.net/ravenwolf.html

I'm re-reading through Teen Witch, and so far I've found these kinds of things:
"And did you know that in the medieval times men were so afraid of women that the Christian men of the day killed two million people, mostly women and children?"
and
"They murdered two million women and children.  Men did.  Christian men."
In other words, she's trying to tell us that: men = evil and women = good. This is sexism, and she's not telling the whole story, either. Refer to the link I gave you. Then I found:
You can check it all out in history books ... The real ones. I mean.  Not the junk they spoon you in school.
So apparently, actual documented history is incorrect. We should all change the school systems because the Encyclopedia Britanica is wrong, and Silver Ravenwolf has spoken!

Good books:
Philosophy of Wicca by Amber Laine Fisher
Full Contact Magick by Kerr Cuhulain
Witch Crafting by Phyllis Curott
Nocturnal Witchcraft by Konstantinos

I bought one of those Little Big Encyclopedia's on Spells and Magic. I think that's another one that's not too accurate because of the many typoes and such. I guess that's okay if since I'm only using it for refferance, but anyone who tries to use it for actual spells should probably chech their sorces 2 or 3 times with other books that've been written by actual magic-users.
Also, on the "Men = Bad, Women = Good" thingy, It wasn't only women & children that got killed, there were quite a few men that were tortured and such for being demons, warlocks, and sorcerers. Not to mention Werewolves. ._. I once read a book about a man who was run out of town because he was mute and partially deaf.
I agree that most school text books below highschool(and maybe in highschool too) are inaccurate... but they are right for the most part. It's not so much that they change facts, it's that they leave out the inapropriate stuff. Like, you wouldn't teach 3rd graders about the baby boom in graphic detail or about the rabidly homosexual Spartans, would you? I can't blame them for that. It's when they take out stupid stuff that bugs me. O.o

Rabidly homsexual spartans? Where can I find information on these? Sounds interesting ...

Yes, I find that big books full of lore are great for reference material. Or if you have to write a kind of spell you've never attempted before, its nice to see an example of one ... and then completely modify it.

And also, during the whole Inquisition Era. None of the people who were mudered were actual Witches. They were Christians who were caught up in hysteria. Not only that, but no one was burned at Salem ... one was crushed to death by rocks, and the rest were hanged. And I love all those sites which feature "Never Again The Burning Times" sites.

When these webmasters/mistresses are informed about the reality of the Inquisitions, they respond with "Well, just because they weren't Witches doesn't mean we should not honor their memory. They were killed over us ... and should be remembered."

That's very noble, but how would you like it if a religion you believed was the epitome of evil decided to honor you? How would that make you feel? Yeah ... not cool.
