So, thanks to Internet Movie Data Base.... it has come to my attention that the Silent Hill movie project IS indeed still in progress and scheduled for release in 2006
o.o any information on this will result in worship.....
I GOTTA know what's going on!
Who's in it? Are they using an original script? Are they filming on scene??? what's up?
anyone know? |

I've heard rumours of this one too. I don't know the details, but they could sure make one scary movie with it. I mean REALLY scary. Let's just hope that A: the rumour is true, and B: if it is they make the movie a good one. |

Okay
It's not a rumor
so according to aint-it-cool-news and IMDB (Internet Movie Data Base)
It's being directed by Christophe Gans (Brotherhood of the Wolf) which is TOTALLY AWESOME O_o
The story is being written by Nicolas Boukhrief and Roger Avary (Pulp Fiction, Resivoir Dogs, The Rules of Attraction) is working on the script itself.
Samuel Hadida is producing it (he also produced the Resident Evil movies)
So, so far it sounds okay o.o I wonder what it's going to be like since it's being directed by and mostly written by two guys from France (who predominantly make French films)
It better take place in America T.T considering that's where the game is....
Chances are, they're not going to be turning the game into a movie so much as they're making a movie with the same feel as the game (so don't expect to see Harry Masson or James or Heather in it lol)
but I can't wait to see who's going to be in it!! n.n
Better be small-timers o.o if you get really big-names then the audience won't react to the characters as well as they would with no-names

Didn't Tarantino direct and write these movies? I don't think he's ever had a co-writer... |

There's a HUGE difference between a STORY and SCREENPLAY
and it is at this time I'd like to redirect you to my Penguin below.

Thanks for all the info, Raymei. Let's just hope it does end up being good. You point about it not being big-names is something I totally agree on. |

Yeah o.o I also hope they don't drop the project
this early in the game, you never know what may happen.
but if they're announcing that it should be out for 2006 then they should be filming now or soon (editing takes a while too)

Let's hope - it could be the scariest film ever if they did it right. |

Isn't that still co-writing? Whatever, Silent Hill rocks so this movie better do the same! Let's hope in a RE:A retrospective. |

It better rock. Also if it's released in 2006 the graphics will be way better than they are now. _________________ I'm a zombie. Yarg.

Article clip I just found online n.n this makes it sound VERY good
Games to Film: Silent Hill
Avary scripting game adaptation for Gans.
September 20, 2004 - Filmmaker Roger Avary (The Rules of Attraction) has revealed on his official site that he is collaborating with director Christophe Gans (Brotherhood of the Wolf) on the script for the forthcoming movie version of Silent Hill.
Avary writes, "Silent Hill... my life is consumed by it. The soundtrack to Silent Hill 2, the graphic novel, fan art, and of course, the games. I'm mostly spending the evenings re-playing Silent Hill 2 (my favorite of the series) on my French PS2, and then watching various DVDs that Christophe suggests are similar to the Silent Hill feel. Then, every morning at 10AM, a car picks me up from my apartment in St.-Germain-des-Pres to deliver me to the palatial offices of Samuel Hadida (which we call KGB Central) where Christophe and I feverishly work alongside each other. We have the entire 4th Floor production suite to ourselves. Christophe is obsessed with all sorts of obscure Italian soundtracks, which we listen to (along with the Silent Hill 2 soundtrack and heavy doses of Serge Gainsbourg) while we write. We've had a game system brought into the office so that we can take breaks to play."
Fans of the game should be pleased to hear that Avary is playing it enough to have a firm grasp on the source material, but he warns that he isn't nearly as obsessed with the subject matter as Gans is. He writes, "Okay, one thing: WOULD YOU FREAKING SILENT HILL FANS PLEASE STOP SENDING ME YOUR SCRIPTS! I delete them without reading them, and it's getting a little absurd. I mean, does everyone who plays this game write a script immediately after finishing?! And please, stop asking me if I'm as obsessed with this game as you are. The answer is, NO, I'm not. But Christophe Gans IS. I'm just writing down his interpretations and visions. I appreciate the concerns, and I'm happy to know what your favorite moments of the game are ? but please, relax a little. It's going to be a fantastic filmic experience ? Christophe is too obsessed with it for it not to be. Have faith." |
