Voting Scams

Recently, there was a petition going around my college campus trying to legalize medical marijuana. They asked for a lot of information [i]not[/i] required for a petition, like the last four digits of you social security number, and everyone who signed this petition ended up registered to vote somewhere in New York.

Kinda hard to vote in New York when you live in Pittsburgh.

I think there were a couple other scams going around, people getting their partys switched and such, but that was the worst. The FBI is now involved, and now everyone's on edge about voting.

Have things like this happened anywhere else? Just curious to see how widespread this is.
