Man, Grissey, you're pulling me in all different directions here. I finally said Bono, because that guy sings with a passion few can match. I still must give props to RHCP as the greatest band ever, and Van Morrison as one of the greatest musicians ever, but Bono is a good choice for singers.

No Plant. Grr! Bastard.

Went with Steve Tyler. Would've said Axl if it were "frontman" not "singer". No DLR either.

EDIT: Mandork, shut it. We all know about Launch, and those bands you've mentioned are utter shit. Give it a rest.

I voted Sinatra because, well, he was good. Didn't specify if it was rock or not, so he gets it.
If it had been "rock frontman", Axl would have gotten my vote.
And Bennington can't sing about anything his mother wasn't yelling during his birth and conception.

Clearly Plant is winning, with three potential votes if he were an option. Cool

While I love John (get his book!), he's faaaaar from even a good singer. And he admits that a hundred times throughout the book alone. Razz If this were "frontman", he's way up there in being unique and a strong presence, but as a "singer" he's utter shit. No range, no sense of melody, rather tone deaf. Great performer, lousy singer. Which was, of course, the point. Can't imagine Jani Lane fronting the pistols.

I'm talking in circles. Yeah, much love for Lydon, even if he is a lousy singer.

Waay too many to choose from. And so many different styles! Ack. No. Vocally Louis Armstrong was pretty unique, but I doubt the highly-recognizeable rasp was much of his own doing; his forte was instrumental.

William Hung shouldn't even be on any sort of 'best musician' list Razz

Um, gah I dunno. Isn't wasting decision time fun? The majority of this list were influential in their own right, but the best...hmm...I dunno, I'll just say Lennon and get it over with. Great song writer, great voice, great ideas, great guy all around..

god damn that's hard. i went with kurt cobain because even if his voice wasn't polished or great in the conventional ways, he sang with such intense passion and emotion that it has a lingering effect. his voice is also unique- raw in a way few singers can match.

jim morrison, steven tyler, and frank sinatra are high on my list too. as are brandon boyd, sean c nelson, and connor oberst (who are not offered as choices)

Do tell me you're kidding...

He called my house once, though, for directions to a Wizards of the Coast event. Figures he plays Pokemon. Rolling eyes

I've heard that story before. Is it true? Was it really him, or some other dude?

Yeah, it was really him. He never showed, but he called here wanting to know when and where the thing was being held.
