When I read the first post I thought that the replies were all going to be rants about how stupid it is that people announce they're leaving. Guess I was wrong. I'm usually wrong anyway... :wacko:

A discussion board called The Flying Penguin used to be a pretty decent board, now it consists of people starting topics that say "I've Return. Bright blinding light, bacon falls from the sky, etc." Then no one sticks around and a few weeks later they post another topic like that or one saying that they're going away. :lol:

meh, im thinking about leaving too. sure i know i stated before that i came here specifically for the boards, but im having second thoughts. my latest posted picture has been uploaded for (suposidly) two days and has recieved a pitiful TWO views. not comments... views... im getting pretty sick and tired (not to mention a bit peeved) about the 300-400+ pictures in que per day. its aggrivating and annoying. honestly, i think the approval que is really quite stupid. but thats just my opinion.

hopefully this problem will resolve soon.

How would you like your submissions buried under 50 scribbles on lined paper and stolen official art and giant blurry scans in the wrong category within twenty minutes, getting maybe 1 view? Because that's what happens without the panel. You weren't around to see it before, but it got to a ridiculous point. You get automatic approval after a certain number of approvals, anyway. Quit yer bitchin'.

Views depend on a lot of things, and I guarantee the panel isn't the main issue. Seifer-Sama does just fine even without her images showing up immediately (though now they will). It's a combination of name recognition, subject matter, skill, and title. There has to be one of those that makes a person click on the picture. It's a rare exception for a person to look at [i]every[/i] picture uploaded. Hell, I get two comments for 40 hours of work. But I knew that would happen when I signed up, since the Taime Downe fanbase isn't quite as apparent on art communities as, say, the Inuyasha crowd. And most people look (either for my name or the title) and don't comment.

[i]No[/i] art site will give you instant gratification. You have to put in the effort and make a name for yourself no matter what site, DA, Epilogue, Elfwood, doesn't matter. Comment on lots of other people and hope the favor will be returned.

Or you could leave, whatever.

Hey don't give up so soon matt, I started slow too, but now I'm starting to get better known. It just takes a while before you get noticed by the right people. God knows it took me a lot of time too. A tip for you: comment on other people's works and although you might get polite comments back at first, your name sticks around in the back of their heads, and you'll get lots of new comments in due time. Or you could draw teh ghey secks with teh wolf ears and teh angsty characters (preferrebly furries) and you'll get a whole SHITLOAD of comments in no time, but lose respect from the more serious artists, or just my respect.

I think the AP is the best thing of this site actually. It filters out a lot of the art stealers and stupid pictures. The Ap is pretty much what this site has going for it, but it's also a lot of work to go through all those pictures supposedly, because they have so many site helpers.

Look at it this way. At least you're not waiting two weeks to be rejected with "not fantasy enough" just because your subject isn't fairies with wings or happy unicorns. It takes a loooong time to get the constant recognition some FAC artists get (without always posting "Inuyasha!!!!!1" pictures). It'd be nice if FAC had the watch system DA has, but just being "known" will get comments eventually. And it's not always instant. I'll randomly get a few people wandering through my gallery or posting on a single piece, either because it was in someone's favorites or linked from somewhere or...I don't know. But it all takes time.

Ok, I think some people are talking about forum replies and others about comments on picture submissions. :huh: Few people take the time to post stupid comments on pictures, unless they're just around to randomly flame.
