okay
Jenni was looking at photos on DA and she found this gallery that was basically this girl taking pictures of herself in nude/practically nude settings.
It linked to another gallery which was just plain...smut (in my book)
The only thing that was in the photos was herself, completely naked (or in a thong), in sexual positions, etc.
One had her on a pole with the title "I want to dance!"
So at what point do you guys think "artistically nude" photos become plain, old center-folds? |

Not that there's anything wrong with it, but it's pretty obvious when the point of a picture becomes "look at my tits!". Like...when there's 50 of them. Pin-ups and stuff are still "artistic nude" (IMO), but those aren't generally as explicit as a lot of the wannabe Playmates on DA. There's a guy who uploaded a ton of nekkid shots of himself, and people kept cheering him on in the comments "yeah man! Equal rights for male nudity on DA!" Uh...granted there's a lot of cheap female shots floating around the place, but this guy was just taking stupid pictures with a webcam. There was nothing "equal" about it.

Ask, and so it shall be done.

NOTE:
Her most recent stuff has an "artsy" look to it, it was her first set of 24 (or so) I'm referring to.
So when you go to look at her gallery, it's the "next 24" I'm talking about |

She's actually not so good looking, and on top of that, doesn't have the right body for 'artistic'(read:softpr0n) photos like this. |

oh god THANK you <_< somebody finally said it.
When a girl says it we usually get a "you're just jealous" comment T.T please, I can honestly say if I find a girl sexy enough for that sort of stuff or not
and I know the difference between a "pretty" girl and a "hot" girl lol |

It *could* be considered art, but the photography is very sub-par. It just looks trashy. _________________

It's not art unless she is making a statement, or representing something. Me thinks this girl is just using "art" as an excuse to strip down. _________________ |

Based on the conversation, I'd say she's aware she's posting pretty non-artsy stuff (really defensive O.o;; and bitchy...) but she likes to hear people tell her she's gorgeous (which is a lot if you look at her comments).
Here's the conversation if you're interested:
~Raymei:
why is your entire gallery pretty much you nude?
~KoalaStock:
Welcome to stock baby, check out the favorites, as long as people keep using them I'll keep taking them, and I'm not nude in all of them. It's not like I'm sticking s**t in my vagina and making porn. Hell my legs aren't spread.
But if you want to get nasty, why does your art suck?
~Raymei:
because I'm still working on it T_T nice..
I'm all for tasteful nudity and such, it's just the ones with you in sexual positions and with the pole, etc that doesn't see like it should be on an art site, per say
one more thing.
In my first statement, I didn't say anything negative.
I had no idea what a "stockphoto" was, and I was simply asking.
But if you want to be a raving bitch about it, then you must have some reason to jump on the defense.
~KoalaStock:
I saw some talk of "smut"....all of that kind of thing is on Suicidegirls.com
No all my photos aren't great by I am a beginner and trying everything.
~Raymei:
I take it you're talking about my journal.
Don't flatter yourself, I saw several different galleries and didn't have a specific one in mind
I didn't say whether any of the photos (or content) were good in skill or whatever, I just said that I think some are inappropriate for DA (since they go against the guidelines of what sort of nudity is allowed)
Man a-live are you ever insecure. One question and you jump on the person, then you assume you're the center of talk?
If you can't handle a question, let alone the criticism, you've got a LOT of growing up to do.
You post it on the net, you're going to get mixed reviews.
Live with it.
~KoalaStock:
"I'm all for tasteful nudity and such, it's just the ones with you in sexual positions and with the pole, etc that doesn't see like it should be on an art site, per say"
That goes directly to your comment with "I'm still working on it"...don't say it's ok for you to not be perfect but mine shouldn't be here : )
~Raymei:
that is *so* not the point.
My bad art doesn't violate rules. Your "practice photos" do.
Your later stuff as artistic touches to it. I'm talking about your earlier stuff that is *just* you, naked, in erotic positions with nothing to the picture...but you.
DA FAQ #23
I suggest you look that over before you get busted....no pun intended.
She never responded after that so I guess she got it (or got tired of it *shrugs*) |

Ill have to check the site out. most people do it for attention, some for views. sex sells! Sillypersis has a few in her works, but theyre done tastefully (no joke intended). I still, after 22 years, have two photos of mine hanging on the corridor hall of my college (I was a photo major then in urban photography). one is of the Empire State Building and the other was of myself nude (a project to photograph yourself as you see yourself). it went over big, but its embarrasing to know that its still on exhibition in the main hall, and knowing that my niece goes to the same college now, and saw it
oh well <_< when your young you dont think of the implications. _________________ 'It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first.' - Ronald Reagan |

DaBear, where did you go to college?
And well, i agree that there is a difference between artistic photographs and people just wanting attention and flattery. I'd never take a picture of myself nude or what not and post it up for everyone to see. That to me, goes to show no self esteem and needs others attention and approval.
I love nude art though. The human body is a very beautiful thing, but there's a difference between admiring it and just slapping it around for plain and simple sexual reasons etc etc etc.
Note: can't look at the page now, will later. In the middle of packing and just taking a breather. I'm sure i'll have more of an opinion later. |

I dont think Ive ever had a low self esteem. it was a project for a class. I was a body builder and to make extra bucks (didnt have a good paying job then) Id do the Wednesday strip for the ladies at the local club. made some good money too. it wasnt to pick up women and the picture was just part of a photographic strip tease that my wife enjoyed alot too. the prof thought it had exceptional lighting and was done tastefully and posted it. I was embarrased it was up for all to see, but it was also flattering for a straight A student to be recognized for his work, and it is still flattering that my work is still on exibition. after you graduate your work is always taken down. I was told to go back into the trade years ago, but there arent that many Ansel Adams in this world and I planned on making money and stayed in the management trade, which Ive taken 4 fortune 500 companies that are number one in there respective markets and broke quality and production records.
no by no means do I have a low self esteem. and in my opinion it dosent really matter to me if others would pose nude or not. that could be considered a low self esteem, or it could be religious. I had no problem with doing that then. now Im getting older but I think all the parts are still good for a mid forties guy still mistaken for thirty. I wouldnt do it now because of the implications of others you never thought of seeing it.
and dont think that the girls and women Ive been with over the years didnt want me to take thier pictures either. Im a gentleman though and would never show them or say who they were. thats between me, them, and the dust growing on my Pentax's. _________________ 'It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. Please don't post unless something is to be said of the topic.
DaBear - I'm not saying in general. I'm saying in the cases in which people do it for attention, to show off, to impress and get compliments for it. By no means did i mean it as people in general. I'm sorry if it sounded so.
And by no means does your manner sound as such to me. |

ooo, sorry Lasher, I started ranting. I should have realized you meant in general. I did check out the original site Raymei posted. I dont really like to be mean, but in the immortal words of Bugs Bunny to Yosimity Sam (when Bugs told him to draw, and Sam took it literaly, and sketched a gun).... "it stinks." God I watched to many toons as a kid. yes, this looks like someone looking for attention, while Sillypersis could model (in certain circles), and is going to school for photography (so she did some works of herself for class nude "clears throut"), and seems to be (from what I can gather from her cons with others on the site) model for others for cash. hey its a buisness, and that is artistic, if done right, in my opinion.
but yes most sites like it should be bulldozed under. _________________ 'It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first.' - Ronald Reagan |
