The big one, who do you think is the best band ever? Be honest!
I say Led Zeppelin, because without them, I wouldn't have a Les Paul today.
Unless I ignored Slash. _________________ Not all who wander are lost.

C-c-can't...ch-ch-choose... So many options.
Went with Led Zep, only because they're bigger and better than Guns, even if I like Guns' music better. I hate hard choices. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

I'm going to assume you put in the first four just so you have a reason to yell at the foolish kids who did vote for that choice. Sly, sly, sneaky little devils. |

I take it you missed the thread that inspired this and the other threads. And I assume you haven't seen the "Best ____" threads. Flea's just throwing out the bait and waiting. Then we can laugh. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

You didn't put Beatles on there, so I chose the Ramones. _________________ |

You can't. Complain about it again and I'll make it your "custom" title, thus it will never change.

Please tell me that was a joke. And after you do, go play in traffic for it not being funny. This is BEST band of all time. Not what little poppy fifteen minute broad is your personal favorite. Best in skill, talent, and influence. Avril has and will never have any of those. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

wait i thought that person really was joking. wow um... i mean i try not to criticize people for their music but... yea best band of all time. ever. i mean, "real"? does she even write her own songs? and even if she did, they sound to me like poppy filler. skater boys and faux punk aren't exactly life-altering, genre-shattering subjects. but whatever, your choice not mine...
i went with nirvana. because i love them and i think they helped open the public's minds (musically, anyway). i was going to go with led zep because they're the true "rock pioneers" and whatnot, but nirvana has had more of a personal effect on me. _________________ i fought the war, but the war won |

yes, but think about it, fallen:
she may not listen to over 88% of those bands up there, except for Avril. You may not think avril "rocks" because you've experienced WWWAAAAYYYYY more bands far more talented than Mrs. Poser Lavine. She, on the other hand, hasn't. So therefore, she will vote for the one in the range of music she has listened to and for the best in HER eyes. Unfortunately, she was drawn to the idea of voting for avril.
it wouldn't be up there if it was against some sort of law to vote for her, right?
anyhoo,
I voted for guns 'n' roses. No other band up there has inspired me more than they have. _________________ <MARQUEE>

Yes but...were I to vote for what I felt is my favorite of the day... I'd vote Faster Pussycat or TUFF. While I'm always digging on Led Zep or Guns or AC/DC and so on, I've been listening to more Pussycat and TUFF and such the last week or two just because. My favorite changes daily. Again, probably because I have more of a selection to choose from, but I can still recognize that Led Zep and The Beatles and The Ramones and Nirvana have had far more effect and talent than either of them.
And it is against a law to vote for them. It's against Flea's law. He made this subject and put those people right up top to encourage people to vote for them, then "enlighten" them of their foolishness. A bit mean, perhaps, but shock therapy has its upsides. I don't buy that the Avril voter has NEVER heard any of the more skilled bands up there. The topic doesn't say favorite. It says best. The all important difference. And if it was a joke, it was a bad one. And shouldn't have included an actual vote.

Oh, and just for clarification, I don't dislike pop fans for liking what they like. Dance to Britney Spears in your underwear all you want. Doesn't bother me a bit. It's the complete lack of ability to distinguish favorite from most skilled or discuss their likes in any way other than "they're so cool!". Why are there never any pop fans who can do this? Almost all people who come on forums and talk about Aerosmith or Black Sabbath can give their reasons for liking them, as far as their influence and talent and strong points and are able to criticize their weaknesses. But pop fans can't. And it drives me crazy. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Yes, already someone has gone Avril....
Without Nirvana, there would be no Avril Lavigne as you know her today.
Hence, it'd be more suitable to give credit to the inspiration than the cronie. _________________ Not all who wander are lost.

Flea seriously, no Rolling Stones (the biggest rock and roll band ever!), no Beatles, no Eagles? no Aersomith? Wtf are you thinking? I'm not even gonna vote now, cuz this isn't fair. |

I don't think it would have been fair to Aerosmith, The Stones, or the Beatles because I dn't think too many GC or Avril fans know who they are. I would have put them in, but I was thinking they'd be overlooked for that reason. _________________ Not all who wander are lost.

Trust me they'll know the Stones and Beatles better then Led zeppelin. And who has ever heard of Faster pussycat (xept Fallen and all that listen to her). Everyone knows the Stones and/or the Beatles. |

Psh, he put in a few of "my bands". It's a joke. Hardy har har har
If anyone votes for TUFF, Pussycat, Poison, or Skid Row...they should be shot. Maybe I could let Skid Row slide as an actual vote, but they're a drop in the bucket compared to the others.
The point wasn't to actually see who is the best band ever. Flea's just out the bash some stupid kiddos. No one's vote really matters.
EDIT: Good god, two Avril votes from pussies who won't speak up. If this were my forum, that would be a bannable offense. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Awwwww...no Aerosmith? But thats not fair. I think they are the best band ever.
I don't think it would have been fair to Aerosmith, The Stones, or the Beatles because I dn't think too many GC or Avril fans know who they are.
Dude, are you serious? There are people out there who don't know who Aerosmith or the Beatles are? Thats...thats...thats so insane! Crazy! Inhuman even! C'mon, at least people should know about Aerosmith 'cuz they're still around. Maybe to prove this, you should start another thread just asking who has never heard of Aerosmith, The Beatles, Stones, etc. That should root out all the MTV addicts.
Can we ask the two people who voted for Avril if they know who Aerosmith is? This is just unheard of to me. People who don't know who Aerosmith is. Then again...*Thinks for a second* I once did a poll in my art class to find out who actually heard of Guns 'n Roses and only five out of like fifteen people knew what I was talking about. The results were even sadder when I passed around a picture of Slash (a pretty average pic of him with the tophat and sunglasses and a guitar) and asked who this person was and only one guy knew who Slash was. Of course, the class was full of people who listen to GC, Avril, and a lot of hip hop.
Since fallen says that our votes don't matter I'm gonna vote for Aerosmith becasue in my opinion, the are the best in almost all levels (lyrical, vocal, guitar, etc.) Wow, people who have never heard of Aerosmith...this generation of people almost makes me want to cry sometimes. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

Actually, this is to prove a point, and for those to people who did vote Avril, obviously, they don't think much of her because they didn't post.
So, should I discard these votes? _________________ Not all who wander are lost.

You'd be horribly surprised who's never heard of some legends. It's terrifying. Tons of people swear they've never heard of or heard a Billy Idol song. Come on, you've heard one somewhere in a movie or commercial or tv show... Same goes for most "big" artists. Everyone has heard Dude (Looks Like a Lady). Period. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Billy Idol...."Rebel Yell"
