Yes, I've thought and thought about this and it's driving me nuts. My band isn't doing anything right now and the name we have now is bothering me.
It sounds a bit emotional for what we plan on playing. I mean, a band with Guns N' Roses roots and Led Zeppelin with a splash of Black Sabbath shouldn't have a name where the name suggest whining about "how you turn me inside out" or the fact I realized recently the name Inside Out was taken....by Rage Against the Machine vocalist Zack de la Rocha before there ever was a Rage Against the Machine.
Yes, I regret searching for it on Barnes and Noble.com.
But, since he dumped that band for RATM, my fav band, I figure he wouldn't mind if we did take the name, but....
It seems cheap and I've been in a rut trying to think of names, but to be honest, names like "Crossfade" or "Shinedown" aren't what I'm looking for. I want something that has a punch to it. I thought of Revolver, or something else of that kind. Inside Out doesn't seem to be a good metal/hard rock name to me.
So come on, help a rocker in need.
Don't make me have to name it after a freaking street.... _________________ Not all who wander are lost.

Not sure I can use that, we already have a Gn'R tribute band. _________________ Not all who wander are lost.

Well, I voted against Inside out, because that was one of our old names, dammit! And then I voted against 'revolver' because that's a little too close to velvet revolver. I voted other. There was this name I had for a band, but since I can't bring myself to join another band, you may have it if you wish (actually, there's two of them):
1.The happy fluffies
2.Fuel Injection
honestly, it may be just me, but I would prefer the 2nd one over the first. The first does not hold a candle the the second one! _________________ <MARQUEE>

You kidding, I would totally go see the Happy Fluffies play the Catclub. (sarcasm mode off)
Just about any name you can come up with that isn't totally out there has been done before. I'm sure there's been 50 bands named Revolver. Hell "Velvet Revolver" is a slang term for cock, so...
Blatantly naming yourself after an influence is a bad idea. Spelling words wrong is overdone and no longer cool (RATT, TUFF, Motley Crue, Led Zep, etc). Of course you can't get much worse than the bands that didn't make it (Wykkid Systerr...swear to god, 80s bar band).
Just...come up with something in your own time. Something will pop out at you. Like the Aero boys writing Walk This Way after seeing Young Frankenstein. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

You'd be surprised what's been turned into a band name.
But seriously, a lot of the best names weren't chosen by sitting around trying to pull one out of your ass. "Faster Pussycat" is from the movie "Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" (thus my avatar). Hanoi Rocks...it's a sentence. Hanoi (the place) Rocks. Ok, "Poison" is an out-of-your-ass name to make "Paris" sound tougher. Come on, Paris? Who the hell's gonna go see "Paris"? AC/DC off the sewing machine. Just random shit.
You'll find something. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

How about Yummy Food?
I've heard some pretty damn wierd names.
Mirror Image
Inside out
The Desperate Fuckers
Flatline
Driven Under
Chimney Sweep
The band you're about to hear
Driven Under, Chimney Sweep, and The band you're about to hear are all local, so I wouldn't suggest those. Flatline is kinda boring. It's the old name Driven Under use to use. The Desperate Fuckers came from a time when me and my friend were sitting in her room and we heard her parents getting it on in the other room. "What a couple of desperate fuckers!". Inside out was an idea my band came up with, and yours as I can see. Toddie wore his shirt inside out one day... and mirror image was an idea I thot of when I was looking in the mirror.
I could come up with worse, if ya want me to! _________________ <MARQUEE>
