I got some soft pastels for Christmas, and I was wondering if you had any tips on how to use them and not waste them due to mistakes. |

Soft pastels are kinda like crayons. Except coated with a special oil to make it much smoother. Just don't press too hard or A. you'll break them and B. You'll end up with this big smudge. |

"Soft pastels" is typically referring to the chalk-like ones. Oil pastels are the expensive crayons.

owie! i work with oil pastels, you color with shadows and highlights and you use this paper like things and smuge the colors together. |
