Dude, that some balls to admit that you like Ozzy's newer songs.
Now that I think of it I don't exactly know if this cd has his new songs. This is a question that fallen will surely answer for me. |

Since you put "new" in quotes, what do you consider "newer"? Ossmosis? Down to Earth? Or even earlier like No More Tears or No Rest For The Wicked? Or his entire solo career?
Essential Ozzy Osbourne is just a typical greatest hits. It's only got a few songs from Down To Earth (newest studio album), which came out in 2001. Those are Gets Me Through, Dreamer, and No Easy Way Out. The rest is all earlier solo work from Ossmosis (1995) and earlier.
I haven't bought anything after Down to Earth. Too many Best Ofs and live albums. Live and Loud is, as far as I'm concerned, the only live album I need. Essential Ozzy Osbourne is a good collection, though. But it's just a career-spanning Greatest Hits thing, not much of his newer stuff.
Which I rather like Down to Earth. It's ok for what it is. Nothing like Diary of a Madman or No More Tears but it's decent enough. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

All this talk about Ozzy got that song "Bark at the Moon" stuck in my head. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

Then when he's found who he's looking for...listen in awe and you'll hear him...bark at the moon. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Nah. But for how little he's talked about here, Ozzy was one of my very first favorites. Ever since I was a wee little thing. My dad was addicted to Sabbath. Saw a show when Ozzy was still the frontman, although he doesn't remember much of it (*cough*). So...I've been around the 'net circles when it comes to the Ozzman.
For the record, I'm the second vote for Ozzy. It was either that or Bon. Brian is a good frontman, but I don't consider him a much better singer than, say, Tom Keifer (who sounds freakishly similar ).
EDIT: I didn't even notice, but Poison is up there as an option for "Best Musician". If you're a Poison fan, or even a Poison hater, you know how funny that is. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Sound a lot like my Uncle F. He saw a crapload of concerts in his day. Sabbath, GnR, NIN, Aerosmith, you name it he's seen it. So naturally his daughter is raised on rock. This kid is being raised the way I wished I had been raised. I mean, how many second graders get driven to school with "Paradice City" playing in the car radio? I think I wouldn't be so jealous if she didn't know about GnR before I did. I mean, how many people can say that their seven year old cousin taught them the lyrics to Paradice City?
Y'know what? You're right. Ozzy don't get enough props on this board. I'll take care of that. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

I used to bring him up, but this version of the boards has been around about as long as the Osbournes, and I got tired of the "OMG teh osbournes are sooo cool! Ozzy is funny lolz" _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

So starting a new topic dedicated to Ozzy Osbourne would be a bad idea. <_< Oh well...I just didn't want to spam this topic with raves about the Ozzman and some of his songs. But I'll just add one last one and I swear I'll be done.
Crazy Train is the best Ozzy song in my opinion. That beginning guitar riff makes me want to seriously take up the guitar. Zak Wylde kicks ass. Man, how old is that song? It kicks ass. I would've voted for Ozzy but there's something about AC/DC that gets me really into the song (a.k.a it gets me headbangin') that I love.

Nono, it's fine, I'll just split these ones off that are already here. I just meant that's why I personally don't bring it up anymore. Before you and a couple other people, all there was was MTV fangirls/boys who would reply.
Anyway, Crazy Train's from the Blizzard of Ozz album (1980). If you're listening to the original recording, that's Randy Rhoads on guitar. The one who died in the plane crash two years later. And my favorite guitarist of all time. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

I used to have the original recording of Blizzard of Ozz (Thank you Uncle F! You're a saint among the rock world. ) But I had to return it two months ago. Great album and the reason I now have respect for the Ozzman. (I used to be one of those MTV people who didn't know anything about Ozzy till I listened to Blizzard of Ozz. )
Confession time: I'm very thankful for the Osbournes show. Because if that show never came on then my mom never would've seen it and she would still think Ozzy was the epitome of devil worship and there would be no chance in hell she would've let me borrow Blizzard of Ozz and then there would be no exposure into real rock and I would still be an MTV fangirl.
So thank you Sharon Osbourne for making a show that may have ruined your husband's good name but hey, at least you saved mine.
Just for a fun fact, I'm listening to Crazy Train right now. I think its the newer version though since its downloaded from my dad's computer and I think the CD he downloaded it from was pretty recent. But thats fine. They're both great guitarists no doubt about that. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

Unless it's live, it's probably still Randy. It's on pretty much every best of, and only the live ones have someone else playing (not counting the Tribute album, which is the only live recordings of Randy). _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hey I made a thread how did that happen
My dad was addicted to Sabbath.
Not alone there *waves finger.* My dad always used to tell me about his rocker days in the late sixties. He hadn't been keeping track of them, so he had no clue that Ozzy made his own reality show and had two lazy bums for children
I used to bring him up, but this version of the boards has been around about as long as the Osbournes, and I got tired of the "OMG teh osbournes are sooo cool! Ozzy is funny lolz"
I don't like the family, they annoy me. You do have to admit the show is pretty funny. But thats pretty much dissing Ozzy hearing the only thing people know him as is a funny charecter in a reality show.

The first season was funny. I own the first season, actually ("Name that dookie" ). The problem is that after the first season, it was obvious that what people liked was all the stupid Ozzy moments. So most of the other seasons are months of footage edited down to a handful of moments that make him look like a stuttering moron.
Plus the publicity of his accident and various other things is just disgusting. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Dude. they actually showed that on the show?! Thats even for me. You just don't do that to anyone... <_< I stopped watching the show after about halfway through Season One so this is completely new to me.

The version I'm listening to now ain't live so its Zakk Wylde on guitar. Still really good. I saw him on a FUSE interview teaching that metal girl VJ how to play the beginning riff for Crazy Train. Listening to this song (and about eight other songs with amazing guitar solos and riffs) makes me want to take up playing the guitar so badly. But my parents won't let me. We don't have the money and they'll think its just a phase I'm going through and I'll lose intrest in a month. I just want to learn for the sake of creating good music, y'know? _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

Not only did they show it, they ran commercials for it for nearly a month. Including the footage of the crash.

If it's not live, then it is Randy (almost certainly). I don't think Zakk has done a studio version of it. Don't think Ozzy would want to, being as he and Randy were so close. I like the tribute video of it with all the Randy clips in it. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

This is exactly why I stopped watching the show. How MTV can film anyone (especially the Ozzman) going through serious accident like that is beyond my comprehension.

Oh! Dude...I feel a little sheepish now. Another reason why I have to read more carefully. But thats really cool. Listening to Randy playing Crazy Train makes me want to take up the guitar in a heartbeat. But its not likely gonna happen until I go to college. <_< And I've never even though "Gee, I want to take up the guitar now" when listening to Slash so this is kind of a big deal to me.
And on an unrelated note, you saw Flea online today, right? But he didn't post anything today. Guess he didn't have time to bother with us, huh? (Or rather me... ) I miss the guitar geek. He'd probably like this thread.

I wish I could play like Randy (or play at all ). Classically trained + metal = God.

He's been on a little bit the past few days, but barely has time to do anything other than check his email. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |
