Hello everyone! Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories is finaly out! And I was wondering if anyone has had a chance to play it yet. I don't have it yet...but I'm getting it for Christmas, so I have a couple of questions for those of you that have played it.
I heard Cloud was a playable character, is that so? I shure hope so!
And whats with the card battle system thingy? Its insane?
Oh, and did you know, that if you beat the game with Sora, you get to play Riku's story? I'm guessing that its a totaly different story line, but I dont know that much about the Riku thing.
Well thanks for your time!

I bought Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories a week ago. It's pretty neat. Sora is the only playable character. Throughout the game cards are collected wich are used in battle. Goofy and Donald are cards that randomly appear sometimes after enemies are defeted in battle, but they can only be used during the battle in wich they appear.
The summon kinds of cards like Simba, Genie, Cloud, etc. are cards that you can get and use anytime in any battle. I made it to the seventh floor and I've only found one Cloud card wich I got after I defeted Cloud.
At first I didn't like the battle card thing, but it's actually pretty cool. There are special attacks that can be used by combining three cards.
I don't really know what's up with the story really. Sora is in Castle Oblivion and he's going through the castle reliving memories that are in cards. He remembers a girl from his Island home that disappeared when he was little. There are these strange people in Castle Oblivion that want to use Sora for something, I think. He's the "Key".

well i haven't played the game yet but being the obsessive compulsive gamer that i am i have read about it. the storyline is supposidle supposed to be like something happens and Sora loses all his memories and thier scattered about as cards. how or why he goes to the castle is beyond me....
so anyway i hear thier are actual cutscenes on the GBA? do tell are they cool? |

Grr....stupid Christmas! I didn't get KH! So now I have to go buy it! Grr...
Well at anyrate, thanks for the replies! Thanks Myst for the info! I'll be sure to keep all that in mind when I get it.
So the card battle systems alright huh? It sounds fun to me. OH yeah, about the cutsceances, I heard/read that they're suppose to be just as good as the PS2 cutsceances, graphic wise atleast. Which is really outstanding for the GBA. I was supprised with what I saw. Well, let me know if you find out anything new! Keep the thread informed!
Thanks,....Denver

I got it for X-mas (because my brothers wanted it T.T they do this every year..."get me" a present THEY want....)
anyway, the fact that the cut scenes are pretty nice on a gameboy (advanced, sp, ds, whatever you got...) is pretty cool, but I HATE the card system thing. It's not my thing at all.
The only reason why I would've wanted this game is because people were saying that it ties 1 & 2 together (somewhat) but I haven't seen anything proving that just yet.
Overall: meh... |

I got CoM for Christmas, and as I have no life I've already put over 20hrs into it. I've actually beaten Sora's story already, and have started the Riku portion of the game. I actually really like the card system, once you get the hang of it it's really cool. Yes, Sora gradually looses his memory as he moves through the castle, and recieves cards made from his memories that form the worlds. The main storyline is in the hallways between the worlds. It's cool. The biggest difference between the Sora and Riku versions is that you can't change Riku's deck at all. There is a complete storyline for Riku, too.
I was kinda disappointed in Sora's final boss, it was pretty easy especially after the last few battles before it. If anyone else has gotten through the game, I just want to know if the final boss vanished in anyone else's game. I was almost to the end of the boss fight, one health bar left, and he vanishes. Poof! gone. I looked at a walkthrough online (with the game still running) and it didn't say anything about a vanishing boss. I waited for awhile and he didn't come back, and I'm randomly running through my deck using up my cards and about to restart the game and just do the whole battle again, when he's suddenly back! I'm just curious whether this happened to anyone else.
And this does tie 1 and 2 together...remember those mysterious people in the cloaks? Doesn't tell much about them, but it'll clear things up a little bit I think.
Cut scene wise, most of it is just with the sprites but there are a couple short scenes that are almost PS2 quality. The opening is beautiful.
If anyone needs a tip or something, I'd be happy to help. |

Yep, final boss dissappeared for me too. Took me freakin FOREVER to beat captain hook. <_< I finally found out you could make him stumble after my, oh 50th try or so. Acording to the guidebook *flips guide I printed out* the final boss dissappears if you reduce his health significantly during a set period of time. It's supposed to be a moment for you to prepare since he's supposed to come back even stronger. Huh, I couldn't tell the difference. As far as I'm concerned, Captain Hook is the hardest boss. When you face him, try to make him trip by heading the opposite direction the boat is tilting...wait..or was it the same direction. Ah whatever, it's just really hard. |

Rita, it happened to you, too? Could you tell me where you found that, cause I couldn't find anything about it in the Bradygames Stratagy guide or the one I found online. It almost made me restart my game! It's nice of the developers to give us a chance to heal and all, but it really freaked me out. And he was one of the easier bosses! <_<
It's official, Captain Hook is the worst boss in the game! I had trouble with him, and Ruppy was saying in the newbie thread that he was having trouble with Neverland, too. My problems cleared up after I some determined leveling and fine tuning of my deck. I likes the Riku game, yes I do! It's cool. ^_^ I'm about halfway through I think...The bosses are so much easier with Riku for some reason. Not a challange at all. I actually have a harder time with some of the normal Heartless, especially the Largebodies and such. I don't really care for the closed deck idea, it sucks to get stuck with a bunch of low (>4) number cards and your opponents seem to have all 6s and 7s.
Pebi, good luck on getting it! You'll love it, it's awesome! But, beware the one handed man! |

EXACTLY!! Last time, captain hook did like 3 combos and I was dead. I didn't even have time to heal! But I finally found out I could make him stumble. And where I got that guide from was my friend, in Japan. Her cousin supposedly helped in some of the designing in KH2: Chain of Memories, so that's why I know a lot. I just started Riku's story though... I HATE CAPTAIN HOOK! THAT GUY IS SO FREAKIN HARD!!! sorry, but it's the truth. GAH!! |

Yes he is! Bad Hook! No cookie! I was going though the game no problems, hadn't even messed with my deck yet, and then I get to him, and he's so hard! I don't get why the battlefield sways while fighting him when it hadn't while fighting the rest of the heartless, either. Made it much more difficult. That battle should've been easier and the final battle should've been harder. Would make more sense that way. He's easier in the Riku game though...but that's cause all the bosses are really easy in the Riku game. I'm on B6...or, no, I just finished B6. Or something like that. I've only got Halloween Town and Wonderland left in my World Cards at the moment.
I wish I could've played the original KH...anyone got a PS2 they want to give me? Is the PS2 game harder than CoM? Or are they about the same? Cause I hope to play it once the price of the system drops...probably when the PS3 releases...being a broke college student sucks. <_< |

DEFINITELY HARDER!!! I got to the last part and FREAKED. It was soooo annoying. There's this one part where you have to fall at the right spot. I don't want to THINK about what would've happened if I didn't land in the right place. The beginning is easy but it gets harder. |

I figured it had to be...but that sounds rough. How do you know where you're supposed to fall!? I hate those kind of puzzle things! |

Well, you get an ability called glide, where you glide on aircurrents. You basically fall, but slower and you can move around. Basically you glide around till you see the save point. I ALMOST missed it. I don't want ot find out what would've happened if I did miss it. THE MUSIC IN THE LAST LEVEL FREAKS ME OUT!!! It's so, eiry and weird. |

Well, that would be it for me. I just know I wouldn't get it.
And the music in the last level can't be worse than listening to the Atlantica theme. I loved Little Mermaid, and I think 'Under the Sea' is an ok song in the movie but on endless loop on a Gameboy...for the love of God make it stop! |

Ok, so it can be worse. Sounds like it was pretty bad.
I'm now stuck in Reverse/Rebirth at one of the later bosses. The closed deck is making me want to kill something cause there's no party to heal me and no healing items and the boss has killer sleights and I never really mastered using slights myself, especially the ones in R/R. Argh. |

Slights are AWSOME! I can practically do all the ones I've got in my sleep. You have to use them to the point where you almost automatically add up the numbers without thinking. Plus I've just started Reverse/Rebirth so I don't know what the heck you're talking about ^_^ By the way, who here HAS played the original KH? |
