[b]ABOUT Devantart & Fanart Central:[/b]

1. I found that deviantart.com as much more greater artists there and theres so many great art to please all.
I havn't seen a single artist yet that needs constructive critism.

2. You don't need to wait a dozen hours for a picture to be approved all you need to do is add the pic and thats all there is too it but at Fanart Central you do wait for a long time.....

3. Deviantart let you add Photography work, its a great place for Photographers to show there work, FAC don't even [i][b]allow[/b][/i] photography work...

4. There aren't that many flamers at DA but theres many at FAC

5. DA has a much better layout and looks more mature..FAC have a childish looking website with Mascots and the colour is rather plain..

6. DA have much more features than the FAC.

Trust me darling there are plenty of bad artists and flamers at DA. Just because YOU haven't seen any personally doesn't mean they aren't there. And even if there are more flamers at FAC we have a nifty little thing that lets us DELETE comments on our pictures. Something DA doesn't allow.

You may have to wait for approval for a picture but this also helps to filter out mis-catagorized pictures and stolen art work.

As for the photography thing... there are plenty of Photography submission sites out there that don't allow drawings. I don't see why a site the specifies in hand-made stuff is any different.

And the mascots? I take personal offense to that because I designed one of them T.T And look carefully... DA does have a mascot it's this little ugly green thing named Fella.

If you dislike FAC so much just go live at DA.

The higher volume of both artwork and artists on DeviantArt effectively makes you a smaller fish in a bigger pond, than you are on FAC. And DG-Sama's right, DA has just as big a share of "crappy" artists as FAC does.

What DG-Sama said, DA has no security system in place to prevent stolen/copied artwork from getting through -- that's why FAC instituted the approval panel in the first place, to stop this from happening before it becomes a problem and somebody gets flamed with "You stole my stuff!" type comments.

Besides, stay around FAC long enough and you can earn being put on the Auto-Approval list, where you can be trusted to find the right category & follow the rules, and pictures you've submitted are made available instantly.

DA has a more 'professional' layout and features than FAC, true. Artist galleries can be sorted by almost any method, there are also e-mail alerts for faved artists and such. FAC by comparison is a "work in progress". Some features are still under construction and not available yet.

Now, for the other side of the coin, here are some things FAC has that DA doesn't:

- A fanart-based category system makes it [b]easier[/b] to find what you're looking for when you're looking for something specific and don't give a damn about whether it's done in pencil, paint, or CG.

- A FREE search function. Only paid members can use DA's search function, and from what we've heard, it still sucks. FAC's search function is a basic single-string search, but it searches picture titles, descriptions, and the optional keywords so if you type in the right word, you're sure to find what you're looking for.

As for the mascots, we held a contest in 2004 asking people to come up with what they wanted for an FAC mascot, Sam the girl and Pheral the cat (excuse me mixing them up ) were the winners.

I'm not gonna bother with a long response to this. Strata probably covered it.

But if you've been a member of DA for more than a week, you'd know there's crappy lined art a plenty and a flood of misplaced work.

However, know what the bottom line is? If you like DA so much, [b]go post there instead of bitching here[/b].

There are plenty of sh*tty artists at DA. Search a little harder. And the layout and other stuff will eventually change here. There are flamers everywhere.

DA has a much cluttered user interface IMO.

FAC has its problems but I do what I can to improve it.

I guess Kinza here was bored and had nothing better to do...

But anyway, all the important points have been covered by Strata and Fallen and everybody else...I would just like to say that I have my own reasons for staying at FAC and not at DA. First of all, when I first signed up at DA (when I didn't know about FAC yet), all the disclaimers and contracts that I had to agree with pissed me off. I just wanted to post my art up somewhere without being bothered by legal stuff, dammit! Second of all, I couldn't seem to find anything that I was looking for...the place is like being stuck in a wilderness with no navigation skills. And lastly, I like the smaller environment at FAC; it's nice and cozy.

And about waiting for your pictures to be approved; why the hell does it bother some people? Don't they have any friggin' patience? It's like the world is going to end if they don't see their art immediately...

In summary...FAC RULEZ!!! DA has nothing on FAC... so congrats on the great site Cstdenis!

Remember, this is really just a fanart site. It just so happens that Denis has allowed miscellanious and original drawings as well. As much as I would love to upload my collections of artsy and manipulated photography, the only real photography fanart would be that of people dressed up at a convention or something. That's what the random image board is for. I like DA for it's larger catagory selection and the great exposer among more people who may share the same artistic interest, but FAC has it's fanart all lined out where as DA is more of a hunt and search. (The searching part being rather difficult if you are not a suscriber. FAC's search feature is free.) Also, since FAC is smaller, the social circles are tighter. It seems as though everyone knows everyone else here, where as you usually only hear from certain people once or twice on DA. Being prone to typos, I also love FAC's delete feature, which DG already mentioined that DA lacks. It's like comparing apples to oranges. Although both are fruit, they taste different. FAC is a fanart site, and DA is an all inclusive art site. As for flamers and pathetic artists, all fruit can rot. No site is immune to idiots.

I've been on FAC for...*thinks*...uh...a while. I think almost 2 years? guess it's not *that* long and DA since September.

I've got friends in both places, and each site has good and bad traits, but as far as art-sites go....I like FAC better.

DA lets *too* much in. People post ANYTHING! And the category thing is messed up (you're supposed to put any and all fanart in the "fanart" section. simple. but everyone puts fanart in whatever section they please @.@;; )

My thought completely, I agree, FAC is for fanart only, which is the thing , only fanart, you don't have to go swimming through piles on edited only official art, and pictures of ugly people (XD) JK but still, FAC is more orginized, and the reason why I like it better, but DA is too Dull in that case of colors, and Me, I just don't like the fact that you can post basicly ANYTHING, it's annoying sometimes

FAC may be small but that makes it alot more oragnized and less confusing.
I started out at DA, but when I found FAC, I left Da for the above reasons

there are plenty of crappy artist at DA (I should know I'm one of them). plus, you have to "subscribe" to DA to even use the search engine. that's basically just their way of screwing you out of your money. & b/c you have to pay to use the search engine, less artists get attention. with fanart-central, you can browse the site, come across pics you like, & comment on them. with DA, pretty much only the really talented artists get any comments. I disagree with you one the rating you gave; I probably give DA a 6/10. btw, your comment is so critical of the site; I can definitely see why the moderators are so highly offended by it.

theres many..lots of people left this place to go to devuant art so i don't care anymore bout thiiis place so i leave to put some art up there and insult fac in devaint froum with all te other deviant memebers.
