Newbie Survival Guide

What I have learned is that when you first get in to forums and you want to post a topic CHECK THE CATEGORY THE THE TOPIC GOES IN FIRST

Example:

Help with shading (topic) does not go in art discussion it goes in art help (category)

You may think it makes no difference BUT IT DOES !!!!!!

I garuantee you the first comment will probably be a forum contributor chewing you out be cause you didnt put it in the right category. trust me it really annoys them

When posting at a topic try your very best to keep up with that topic and NOT CHANGE THE SUBJECT !!!

Example:

(topic) Did anyone see Hitch

(post) Hey did you see that new book comming out

I garuantee you the person with the next post will probably get annoyed and politely (if your lucky) say "Please dont change the subject"

(also DO NOT DOUBLE POST, its when you post right after your last post)

And as I have also learned if you want to post, it is good idea to read past posts to see what is happening

When doing polls BE PATIENT as stratadrake once said "patience isnt a virtue in forums ITS THE LAW."

( remember forums are not like chatrooms it will usaualy take about 30min. to even a week before you get a response.

Do not post 4 minutes later dictating other people to start voting YOU WILL GET CHEWED OUT. It can take from an entire day to about 3 weeks before you get results.

I strongly suggest going staight to the Newbie Thread (they will not chew you out) trust me its easier making friends their (as a newbie) than anywhere else.

DO NOT GO INSANE WHEN YOU SEE NEWBIE ON THE LEFT HAND CORNER ( it will go away and it does not condemn you)

( also when postin do not on every single post put your letters in caps people will think your shouting which is rude)

And I leave it to the all veterans to post more survival tips.

Yeah, you will be surprised what can annoy forum veterans. :wacko:

I use to put little snippets of pink floyd song down at the bottom as my personal trademark but it just seemed to annoy everyone so I stopped it. <_<

Though no one has seemed to bitch about Korn.

That's right newbies, you get GnR and you will make the mods happy. You make one good comment about them and there will be heaven. ;)

On the subject of GnR, My favorite song has to be Welcome to the Jungle. --; I can't help it... it's just so.. effin' cool.

however, Strata does bite... I'd stay clear away from strata unless you have a post count of 100
