A pretty simple question. Do you have a sort of 'schedule' for doing art? When you have a lot of time to choose from and one drawing or painting or etc. to do, when do you usually find the time to do art?
Are you a "morning" artist, a "day" artist, "evening" or "night" artist? Do you find yourself working on a drawing more at certain times of day than others? If so, why do you think that is?
Me... I suppose I'm a "day" artist -- midday/early afternoon sort of thing. Maybe because I've finished with my morning 'routine' but haven't become tired from whatever else happens during the day. Maybe because it's when the sunlight shines directly into my room and warms it up some. But for whatever reason, I have a hard time drawing late in the day or at night. The only times I do, seem to be ones where I've been holding back some amount of artistic energy/ideas for awhile and NEED to put them down on paper quickly, but usually that's not so.
Anyone else feel the same way? _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

I guess I'm a "night" artist, because I prefer drawing and stuff at night... But I kind of don't count because I have school in the mornings so... |

Two words: lunch hour
It's the only time I really have to do art anymore. Otherwise I'm usually up late on a Friday or Saturday night tinkering away on the computer until 1 in the morning. _________________ |

I draw when I'm feeling inspired to. And I'm never inspired as much as when I have piles of homework, exams, papers, finals, etc. ^_^;;.
It always works out that way! When I have free time, I don't feel like drawing. When I have to cram and quickly get important things done, I suddenly feel like drawing instead O_O. It's so weird... |

When I try to concentrate on doing a homework or something important, I just can't keep myself from my sketchbook....it's like a crazy magnet that's just drawing me to it...and I try to draw something every free minuet I have but lately, my life have been very hectic and don't have time to draw much |

Between midnight and 6am. Thus I don't get much art done during the school weeks, 'cause I just can't work up the motivation to work on it earlier in the evening.
Working up the stamina to finish the last 7 illustrations by Friday. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

After my work is done, I can work in Newspaper class, sometimes Dance ( <_< hate that class), lunch, my teacher aid period (aka Newspaper again), and I also get out of school an hour early this semester.
Of course, right now I'm doing two major projects- one on the influence of Enlightenment authors on the French Revolution and another a comparison on Quenya Elvish evolution with the influences of Latin, French, and German on English. Yeah... they won't be finished until May, so I only have time for quicks cgs and sketches, really :/ and wasting time on FAC |

When I have time for my personal art (which lately now is only during the summer), I stay up late at night. I start around 9 pm and then work until whenever my dad yells at me to go to bed, which is usually around 3 am. Maybe because I don't like to sleep; I feel like sleeping wastes my time or something stupid like that. <_<

I know what you mean! I can't sleep more than 5-6 hours a day because I have so many things I want to do. Then I crash on the weekend and my cousin calls me lazy O.o So- by sacraficing some sleep, I can fit in a few sketches here and there- or a PS gif.
As a word of caution to both of us, though- I read an artile on MSN a few days ago talking about this disease that runs in only like ten families around the world, and one day these people just wake up and can't ever go to sleep again. They slowly deteriorate and finally just die >.> |

It depends. It's more of a 'mood' thing, than a time thing. But if I had to say time, I'd say I'm a night artist. |

For me, it's usually after 10:00 pm --- that's usually the time when everybody (finally) leaves me alone.
Either that, or when I'm supposed to be studying for a test or doing a major project of some sort. |

It's so funny you should ask, Strata. I'm what I call a "seasonal penciler". What the hell is that you ask? Well, it's like this: about four or five years ago I got deeply into writing. I've been writing poetry and some stories for a long time, but just lately (four or five years ago) I've gotten serious about my poetry. I'd say, in a year, I can can get very inspired to draw, I spend somewhere around five months in that year doing nothing but drawing. Then, I can't get inspired to draw but I really want to write down some rhymes. That's when my poetry phase comes in. I spend around 3 months on that and I'm drained. I then get inspired (it never fails) to write a story, usually horror genre. A few months on that goes by and I'm back at drawing. The process repeats and It's like a mechanical clock. But it all works out, atleast this way I can say it's not writers or drawers block. It's seasonal for me!
As for a legit answer... I draw when I got the time. I work seven days a week, at an average of 60 hours in that span of time. Today is my first day off in 3 weeks. I just finished a 20 day working streak. Though it's not in my schedule, I got lucky 'cause a co-worker needed some hours. But before I became a workaholic who doesn't want to be a workaholic, I loved to draw at night, past midnight. The city is quite and darkened, I can find nirvana in those hours. Drawing is my first love, so that's when I do it best. _________________ "edit : i luv james" - Layzcarter |
