I think we're all curious just how rare those actual critiques are. _________________ |

Combination of two. "Cool! You should draw *some anime character I'd never heard of*!!!!!"

 Because there's so much anime in my gallery. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Yeah. What's up with that? Just because someone is really good at their specialty (you, for example, with realism) doesn't mean they specialize in everything, such as anime. I remember you once saying that you can't draw anime at all; neither can I. They should go find someone whose gallery is flooded with Inuyasha pics or whatnot.

My last 5 comments were all "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" until the page's margins were expanded and you couldn't even see the art without scrolling horizontally. I instantly delete those. My most commonly received comment, however, is always a quote from a cartoon. As if I hadn't heard that quote a million times before. <_< _________________ |

I just assume those people put the same thing on everyone's gallery, hoping someone will take their request. Same with the people who write "NEAT! PLZ LOOK AT MAH ART!!!!!! ^___^"

I'm trying to afford summer tour season tickets and start a series of playing cards. No time for stupid anime characters. Unless they'll pay. I'll do anything for money. ^_^

(I probably could learn anime pretty quickly if I tried...just never had reason to try. Meh) _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

				| Yeah, you'd think that your pic was an advertisement with all the 'plz look at my art!' comments. Surprisingly, my last comment was constructive critism. |

Yesterday I received about 10 comments from one person touring (the older half of) my FAC gallery. Every comment they left was to the tune of "Awesome *favs* " except one, which was "can you do a request? (email address)".

Guess which comment I deleted? I gave them a profile comment telling them (among other things) to check out our forums. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA
and start a series of playing cards
I hope to see more of the card series, they look good so far

comments!?! what are comments? in FACt, what are views. the last picture I posted here, I thought was a pretty sexy little number of ToniBo for Valentines day. I think it recieved about 50 views since then and 2 comments, the last was just something like "very nice." hey but I guess its better than nothing <_< _________________ 'It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. Gonna do some of the bigger names next, I think. Would probably generate more interest than the relatively obscure Mike M. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

The last comment I recieved was one on my picture of Audrey Hepburn. I was actually surprised at the number of comments that picture recieved. _________________ |

I get that too. So I immediately comment back saying, "who in hell's living f**k is that?"

I never get critiques. Ever. I so want them. But they never come. I'd settle for a half-intelligent reply. _________________

It should officially be renamed to 'critiques', instead of 'comments'. Or, another link called 'add critique' should be placed next to 'add comment', and that link should pop up a window where only constructive criticisms can be written.

*edited* my last comment was a request. I might do it. _________________ "edit : i luv james" - Layzcarter |

I clicked on the wrong button :/ I just got a quote from Harry Potter: "CONSTANT VIGILANCE." It got my attention ;)

I usually check on the art of people who commented as a courtesy, but sometimes... well, ya know. Some things I just don't know how to reply to. I think I saw a stick figure make out session once. They said it was Zelda. |

"Ego boosters" . . . such a lovely term for something so putrid... _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

There's always critique panel..you can also ask for it in the description, anyways.. i dont remember my last comment because they were maybe 3 from the same person.

Comments dont annoy me at all, just like dabear said its better than nothing. :o

EDIT: there's something missing though, some people ask in the comments what did you use to color this pic/what program did you use to color this pic and yada yada. |

My last comment was actually the most useful one I've yet to receive. I got a very well broken down critique on how to improve on drawing dragons. It wasn't just constructive critisism. It also had a sense of supportiveness in it.

I think it's great when people go beyond the extremes of "THAT'S SO KEWL" and "That totally sux!" Ego boosters are fine now and then, but I much prefer comments that aid an artist in perfecting their own style, technique and ability.
