Fac Convention!

I was wondering if we could step up some kind of FAC Convention in the states or something. You know have people come around post up new updates and signing up for moderators and new stuffers like that...

(sorry this may seem like a dumb idea in about five minutes so if I come back... and just mess this up.. sorrys! )

Ha, it'd be a miracle for a single staff member to be in the same room as another one, let alone Denis. Surprised

Although there was mention of the NW (or west coast in general) FAC'ers getting together at whatever con that is in...April, was it? Doubt that'll happen for me now.

As it is, too many people are in school or just starting college (or popping out babies Razz

) to get together right now. It was talked about 6 months ago, about then, and if it's still a popular community in a couple years, it'd be a more realistic idea.

I vote for Los Angeles. Wink

If there is one it would likely be in the greater Vancouver area somewhere for my own convinance.

Maybe also one somewhere on the east cost somewhere organized by a site helper over there.

I'm not sure FAC is quite big enough yet at ~20,000 members. A successful con would need thousands to attend and much planning.

As it was discussed earlier, it was just a get together planned to run alongside an existing con. Built in entertainment and added reason for people to attend.

An independent con is virtually impossible, even Epilogue does theirs during a different con, and DA is just now holding their own this summer.

I might go to a convention in a year or so (after I have stuff I can maybe set up a booth for ^_^ ) but right now @.@;;; with the ever-known moving situation I'm going into....I don't have the financial stability to make any kick-ass trips

I want to go to Canada at least once before I get married or anything big like that Grr!

must....go!!!

An LA "get-together" would be fun ^^ We can go to Magic Mountain or something!! (gah! I wanna GO~O!)

But I agree, I think before we do any major conventions or whatnot o.o we'll have to wait several years (especially since most of our die-hard-members probably won't be 18 for several years Laughing

Well, the Anime Expo is coming this summer. It's held in at the Aniheim Convention center next to Disneyland, CA. Hell, i'm more than willing to try and get people to gather there.

It might be possible for people to come. We can set up our own table or something. Take photos and all that.

Don't forget the Comic-Con. If anyone is going let me know. I'll be there volunteering.

And I'll already be in LA as of September, and a poor starving student (quite literally) can't afford to go anywhere else.

If anyone is already planning on going to a con, feel free to make a post and try to work up a get together or something. Never know.

Ahh reviving the thread...

2 Conventions are coming soon here in California over the summer break and i've done some thinking myself over having a FAC member gathering.

One of the main reasons most or some people might not be able to attend a gathering is because of where the conventions are actually held. I know, for a fact, that there are conventions held all over the United States, hopefully it's not a major problem for those living here in America.

It's those who live in other countries that serve as a main concern. But then again, if none are held where they are, there isn't much we can do about it is there?

Oh getting down to the ages of the members on FAC, of couse we can plan something for the gathering that their parents can attend. For example, i believe there is some sort of artist gallery in every convention and setting up a big FAC group booth would be interesting enough.

If we could take a general poll for the members, do you think it would be helpful to this cause? If so, what kind?

In hopes, i am personally extreamly interested into gathering up FAC members. And even though we might end up holding one gathering, its enough just to meet others in an online art community. Plus, it would be a starting experience. So, if you have any other comments, questions etc, PLEASE post them. Very Happy

If there are enough willing to attend, I can look into setting up something at the Anime Evolution convention (Vancouver, BC) in August.

I suspect Layz would be willing and able to contribute to that, and fallen may be close enough to attend.

Not sure who else is in the North West of the US or South West of Canada.
